MARCH COFFEE TALK
Incarceration: The Effects on Women and their Mental Health
Saturday, March 10, 2018
Presentation starts at 10 am
Coffee & Goodies at 9:30 am
Attend a free presentation facilitated by Liz Reetz who is the Women’s Unit Manager of the Ramsey County Correctional Facility on the effects on women and their mental health. This workshop will look at how their trauma history and the responsibility that comes along with being a single parent effects women while in custody.
Women that are in the criminal justice system typically have a multitude of risk factors that have led them down a delinquent path. These risk factors include: chemical addiction, mental health issues, trauma history, and issues stemming from being a primary caregiver. Women have a unique set of needs and incarceration can both help and hinder their overall well-being. This presentation will specifically look at how their trauma history and the responsibility that comes along with being a single parent effects women while in custody.
We’ll also have a food shelf donation box available at all events, if you would like to make a contribution, please bring along non-perishable items.
