Lutheran Church of Peace has partnered with Kising’a Parish in Tanzania since 1999. This partnership is part of a larger partnership between the St Paul Area Synod and the Iringa Lutheran Diocese called Bega Kwa Bega (Shoulder to Shoulder).
We have supported our Tanzanian partners by helping construct their church building, providing a motor bike for their Pastor, and financing student scholarships over the years.
LCP has sent two groups to visit our partners and the Kising'a pastor and an evangelist have visited us in St Paul. LCP members Dan and Sue McIntyre are involved with several Bega Kwa Bega programs and have made many trips to Tanzania to teach and to serve.
Last year we supported two girls and two boys in Secondary Schools along with a Theological training program for the Evangelist Church leaders. In 2020 we supported 3 girls and 3 boys. The Secondary Schools are Lutheran boarding schools that also provide dorms and meals for students coming from rural villages. LCP has been supporting students from Kising'a for more than 20 years and many of our supported students are teachers and pastors today.
